favicon your site
By dcoder67We’ve all seen them, the cool little icons that show up in front of the URL of your favorite websites. Why not create one for your own site? It is a great way to brand your site, giving your visitors yet another way to identify you. the favicon is a simple little graphic – only 16 pixels by 16 pixels in size. You can create your icon in a number of ways. If you Google Icon Editor, you will find there are a multitude of Icon Editors to choose from out there. I use a handy little program called IrfanView. You can take your logo or create an image, whatever you choose and then resize them to the 16 by 16 pixels. Save your image as favicon.ico and upload it to your web directory. It only takes a few minutes to create and it is a great way to help surfers identify your site – especially now that most browsers have tabs and place the favicon (if your site has one) on the tab to help surfers identify the sites they are currently visiting.
